E-invoices are coming: prepare in time with bizBox<\/strong><\/p>

For many companies, a PDF invoice sent by email has been the most common method of invoice exchange for years. It was simple, fast, and familiar enough. However, with the introduction of mandatory e-invoices, this method of exchange between business entities will no longer be adequate. <\/p>

From 1. 1. 2028, the exchange of e-invoices between business entities in Slovenia will be mandatory.<\/strong> This means that companies will have to issue and receive invoices in the appropriate electronic format and via a legally compliant channel.<\/p>

The change does not only concern large companies. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as sole proprietors, will also have to prepare for the transition when doing business with other entities. <\/p>

PDF via email is not an e-invoice<\/strong><\/p>

One of the most common misunderstandings regarding e-invoices is the belief that a PDF invoice sent by email is already an e-invoice. In practice, this is not true. A PDF is a visual representation of an invoice, but it is not a structured electronic document that systems can automatically read, process, and securely exchange. An e-invoice must be prepared in the appropriate electronic format and sent via a secure electronic channel. The purpose of such an exchange is greater traceability, security, less manual work, and more organized invoice processing. <\/p>

Receiving e-invoices will also be important<\/strong><\/p>

When transitioning to e-invoices, companies often first think about the invoices they issue to customers. However, the receipt of invoices is equally important. A company will need to have an organized system for where it will receive supplier e-invoices, how it will review and approve them, and how it will integrate them into further processing. This will also be important for everyday business purchases. If an invoice is issued to a company or tax number, such an invoice will also have to be handled in accordance with the new e-invoice exchange method. <\/p>
