The Government of the Republic of Slovenia confirmed the draft text of the Act on the Exchange of Electronic Invoices and Other Electronic Documents (ZIERDED) on July 23, 2025, and sent it to the National Assembly for consideration, which means that its implementation is approaching.
The proposed law comprehensively regulates the exchange of e-invoices and other electronic business documents between all business entities. The law will establish uniform rules for the mandatory use of e-invoices in the business environment and increase control over the digital exchange of documents.
The key objectives of the legislation are:
- simplification of business operations,
- reduction of administrative costs,
- greater security and transparency in the exchange of e-invoices
- and alignment with European Union practices.
With the law coming into effect, expected on January 1, 2028, all business entities will be required to exchange e-invoices in their mutual contractual relationships.
