Mandatory e-invoices coming to Slovenia! The ZIERDED Act has been passed

MPs unanimously approve the law with no votes against. The time to prepare is now.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia has passed the Act on the Exchange of Electronic Invoices and Other Electronic Documents, making B2B e-invoicing in Slovenia mandatory as of January 1, 2028 .

The law was approved without a single vote against, clearly showing that Slovenia is united in supporting a digital future for business and aims to enable companies to have more efficient, transparent, and environmentally friendly business processes.

What the new law brings

With the introduction of mandatory e-invoice exchange, all business entities will be required to send invoices to each other in electronic form via certified providers.
This marks the end of paper-based operations and a significant step toward the full digitalization of business workflows in Slovenia.

In addition to lower costs and faster invoice processing, the new law will bring greater traceability, security, and process automation, in compliance with the European e-business regulation (EN16931).
